Volunteer with BEA

Volunteering with BEA is a great way to make friends, share experiences, develop new skills and help people. Whatever your reasons, volunteering with BEA can be fun and extremely rewarding.

Volunteering with BEA could mean anything from helping in groups or driving a minibus, making tea and coffee, starting up a new activity, chatting with people at our community space or being a befriender to local seniors.

Helping in groups

Help run one of our groups or you may have an idea for a group yourself which you can help lead. See the timetable page for our current group activities.

Driving

Our friendly drivers help hundreds of people get out and about each week and play a huge part in tackling social isolation amongst local seniors. Training will be provided.

Shopping Service

Helping our members with their weekly shop is another key service. Whether it’s transportation or helping them make their way around a supermarket, your role here is vital in helping them stay independent.

Dementia Group

Information and Advice for people living with dementia and carers. Enjoy activities and a chat over a cuppa.

Befriending

BEA runs a befriending scheme to support older people in the community who may be socially isolated or find it difficult to take part in a group activity.

Could you spare an hour a week to telephone or visit a senior person?

Charity Shop

Shop volunteers help sort donations, display items and take payments.

“The befriending is going great!
Love going to see Betty and she assures me the feeling is mutual.
She’s more like a friend now.”
