Activities & Services

See the activities we have on offer and find out about the ways we support people to be fit, healthy and independent.

What we offer

At BEA we provide a range of activities to support local older people to be fit, healthy and independent.

Whether it’s a trip to the seaside, walking football, a day out shopping or coffee and cake with new friends; we have an activity for you.

All of the activities and services we arrange are tailored to help you meet other people and have fun together.

Take a look at some of the services we offer our members.

Keeping Healthy

We all know keeping moving and keeping fit is essential. We have a range of gentle and more challenging exercise sessions for all abilities including tai chi, line dancing and even walking football.

Friendship

We support a range of activities and events to help members meet new friends. From our befriending support to groups and Drop In Café – you’ll have a packed social schedule.

Getting Out

Fancy a day trip to the seaside with friends? A trip to a market? Or maybe you just need a little assistance doing your weekly food shop. At BEA we make sure you have no problem getting out and about!

Dementia support

We offer a day a week of activity and support for those experiencing memory impairment and their carer. This can include a light lunch, singing, trips out and help and advice to access other services and equipment.

befriending

We run a befriending scheme to support older people in the community. Our friendly volunteers take time to get to know older people who may be socially isolated or find it difficult to take part in a group activity.

Help & Advice

We are only happy to provide useful information and advice on a range of issues such as housing, benefits, winter warmth, bereavement, mobility aids, statutory and local services.

THE HAPPY CAB

In July 2022, we were delighted to receive a brand new Hackney Cab. This Department of Transport-funded vehicle - the Happy Cab - is part of a Leeds-wide project (Travel Connections) to use transport to reduce loneliness.

Groups of BEA members can pre-book the Happy Cab to jointly attend activities such as shopping trips, pub lunches, and BEA activities. If needed, a Happy Cab driver can provide support once there and we can identify other people to go with.

If you want to book the Happy Cab, call us on 236 1847.

it was a trip to remember.”
