Members of Bramley Elderly Action and Older Wiser Local Seniors (OWLS) are being offered the opportunity to come to Headingley cricket ground to watch the current county champions defend their title.
We have been talking with Yorkshire cricket’s community arm, The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation, about local older people coming to cricket matches to enjoy the play and meet new friends with a shared interest.
Yorkshire Cricket are offering a number of free tickets on certain match days in the 2015 season. These will be available to interested members of BEA, OWLS and our sister organisations, STEP, OPAL and HOPS.
The initial dates are:
- Monday 27th April – Yorkshire v Warwickshire (day 2)
- Tuesday 28th April – Yorkshire v Warwickshire (day 3)
- Monday 11th May – Yorkshire v Hampshire (day 2)
- Tuesday 12th May – Yorkshire v Hampshire (day 3)
- Monday 8th June – Yorkshire v Middlesex (day 2)
- Tuesday 9th June – Yorkshire v Middlesex (day 3)
On each day Yorkshire Cricket will provide free tea and coffee in Stumps Restaurant and a ticket to watch the match. There will also be an opportunity to speak with members of staff, players and former players about the team, stadium and Yorkshire Cricket in general. You will also be able to visit the Yorkshire County Cricket Club Museum, which is open on match days. People will meet for tea and coffee at about 10.00. You will then be able to stay at the cricket for as long as you like.
BEA are also discussing with Yorkshire Cricket the offer of coffee mornings and lunch clubs in Stumps Restaurant in the Yorkshire Cricket Centre on non match days. Tours of the stadium and talks can also be arranged. These sessions could be run throughout the year.
We are very keen to hear what members would like to get from this exciting new partnership.
Please phone the BEA office on 0113 236 1644 if you are interested in going to watch cricket on one of the above dates.
