- What’s your volunteer role? I phone people we’ve had no contact with for a while to see if they’re OK, if they need any of our services and to check that they receive the newsletter regularly.
- How long have you been a volunteer? Since December 2016.
- Why did you get involved? I’m semi-retired. To use my skills, to give something back to the community and because I have experience of working with older people.
- Three words that sum up BEA for you? Charity for local people
- What do you get out of volunteering? Giving something back. Working with a group of people I admire.
- What else do you like doing? My life is around my two dogs (a Siberian husky and a staffy cross) who are quite boisterous! I also volunteer for the Royal British Legion, at their drop-in and doing casework across West Yorkshire.
- Where were you born? Irvine, Ayrshire (Scotland). Robbie Burns’ country.
- What’s your favourite film? Any version of ‘A Christmas Carol’
- And your favourite book? ‘A child called “It” ‘ (Dave Pelzer) but I don’t read much nowadays.
- Tell us one interesting fact about yourself I have donated bone marrow, which went to someone in Canada.
