…at the Stroke Club

Bramley Lawn
alternate Wednesdays, 10.30-12.30

Connie Earl, Margaret Crew and Brian North all volunteer at West Leeds Stroke Club. They help with support, refreshments and activities and have been involved for two to three years. Margaret and Connie were asked to volunteer (‘press ganged’, as they joke!) byStroke Club Volunteers Maureen, when attending another group. Brian’s wife had a stroke in 2004. He first came to the club as her carer and then, sadly, volunteered after she died. Brian was born in Hyde Park, Margaret in Otley and Connie in Bramley, but all have lived in Bramley for more than 50 years!

The club, which meets fortnightly at Bramley Lawn, is for anyone recovering from a stroke, with no age restriction. It’s a very welcoming group. There are speakers, quizzes and outings – anything goes – whatever members would like to do. It’s a great way to share information and support with people going through similar issues.

When asked what else they would like to do, Connie, Margaret and Brian agreed that they would like to win the lottery, give ‘reasonable donations’ to BEA and the Stroke Association, and then take a well deserved holiday.

Please contact BEA Activities Co-ordinator Maureen by email (see groups page) or by phone (0113 236 1644) if you would like to join, or find out more about any of our groups.
