I’ve worked at BEA since April 2012. I’m responsible for our communications and marketing for BEA and OWLS, including the annual report, newsletter, media relations, social media and design and maintenance of the websites. I really enjoy working somewhere where local people are in and out of the office, and we can feel we’re doing something valuable in the community.
I’ve a long history of paid and unpaid work in the voluntary sector, including advice work, development education, community development, fair trade and mental health. I have a long-standing commitment to promoting positive mental health and challenging discrimination, and was a trustee of Leeds Mind for 6 years until 2017.
I grew up way down South, but I’ve been in Leeds since coming to university in 1981. It’s always felt like home to me, but I know I’ll never quite be a true Yorkie! I live in Burley.
I play and watch a lot of sport, love walking, travelling and cooking, speak some French and Italian. I’m learning ukelele and playing with Music From the Attic.
