Volunteer Co-ordinator

My role involves recruiting, training and supporting our enthusiastic volunteers. I am also responsible Maureen co-ordinating our befriending service.

I started at Bramley Elderly Action in January 2000 following a 30 year career as an RGN qualified nurse in the NHS. I had previously worked in a variety of positions, including hospitals, district nursing in the community and GP surgeries, I then went on to manage a private nursing agency which specialised in the nursing and residential care of patients in their own homes.

During my time at BEA I have had a variety of roles which, including assessing the needs of members, organising activities and events, and advising members on benefits and general information.

I live in North West Leeds and in my spare time I enjoy walking my dog, looking after my five grandchildren and socialising. During the last twenty years I have undertaken part time studies in counselling, psychology, sociology, and various complimentary therapies.

I find my job extremely rewarding in the knowledge that I encourage people to get involved in volunteering, which is of such benefit to themselves and to BEA members.

So if you think you may be interested in being a volunteer, give me a ring and we’ll have a chat.
