Lynsey Walker

Community Social Worker

I started working at BEA in December 2016.

The aim of my role is to work alongside people in Bramley, Swinnow and parts ofLynsey Walker Stanningley who are experiencing loneliness or isolation, and work together to reduce this and the long term effects it can have on people’s lives. This is part of a two year project for Time to Shine.

I qualified as a social worker in 2001, and have been lucky enough to spend a large part of my working life working for non-profit/voluntary organisations. A large part of this has been spent working with people around issues with drugs and alcohol, helping them make positive changes in their lives and make connections with the best services to support them. I have also worked in area offices, the hospital, and in Australia for a year. Working in voluntary organisations is important to me and i see it as a privilege to work with people to make things better in their community.

I grew up in Featherstone and spent plenty of time watching Featherstone Rovers RLFC. After school I studied in Bradford and Leeds, and moved to Armley in 2003, where I lived until 2013. Now I’m in Pudsey.

I have 2 small kids, and a larger step son who keep me incredibly busy. When I’m not in work I love going to the Yorkshire countryside for a walk, second hand shopping, going out to gigs, and trying to be creative.

Please pop in and say hello if you’re passing – it would be nice to meet you.
